Orange County

After searching throught the internets and a variety of other resources to estimate the effect a 6m sea level rise would would have certain parts of the world we found out that several cities here in Orange County would find themselves flooded.

As you can see from the blue, parts of Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa and Newport Beach would be flooded if such an increase in sea level were to occur. What would that mean for Orange County? Well, several hundreds of thousands would be without homes, and not only that but, numeorus businesses and organizations would be closed, amounting to a pretty significant amount of damage socially and economically.

Well, we, Global Green Minds, were shocked when we discovered the information above. Our homes flooded? We can't let this happen...so what did we do? Well, we decided that the easiest and most effective way to get people involved would be to inform them about global warming...but this is what this website's for. Then we thought, hey, the most important thing to do first before trying to inform people is to find out how much people know. So armed with surveys and a video camera (See our Moral Issue Page) we dispersed into our community aiming to get the job done.

It is important to note, however, that the above is nowhere near the actual truth, rather we were able to get the gist of how much people knew (believe me, after awhile you start to see a trend). And so, we were able to get 62 surveys filled out and about 20 interviews (people were camera shy) and, overall, we felt we managed to accomplish what we set out for.
